Santa Rosa Plum

Santa Rosa Japanese Plum

Prunus salicina 'Santa Rosa'

Grandpa's Choice(TM) Santa Rosa Plum is an old-time proven favorite. Large, round red fleshed fruit and very sweet and juicy. Very high quality fruit suitable for eating or canning. The tree is fast growing and vigorous. Somewhat self-fruitful, but should be planted with other japanese plums for pollination. It may be a somewhat shy bearer under eastern conditions, but bears prolifically in the west. Ripens mid-season after Shiro and before Stanley.

Homeowner Growing and Maintenance Tips

Growing japanese plums is rewarding, but more challenging because they always require other japanese varieties for pollination. Because they bloom early, they are more susceptible to spring frost and they tend to be somewhat more winter tender. Take good care of japanese plum trees.
