Grandpa's Choice™ Red Haralson is a very hardy, heritage variety that has stood the test of time. Our strain is a very attractive red color that has less russetting and ripens earlier than the original Haralson. The fruit is crisp and juicy and the flesh white and firm. It has a mild, pleasant flavor. It is good for all uses. It will stores well into the winter. It is extremely hardy and good for areas that have really cold winters. It harvests late September, early October in the north.

The original Haralson was introduced by the University of Minnesota in 1923, where many important, very cold hardy varieties have come from. Its parents are Malinda X Wealthy.
