Simka Japanese Plum

Prunus salicina 'Simka'
  • Summary
  • Hardiness Zone & More

The Simka plum has large, uniform, purplish-red fruit with very firm, sweet, yellowish-white flesh. It ripens 5-7 days before Friar plum and seems to keep well on the tree for a couple weeks.

Simka was a chance discovery made in California and introduced in 1959. It was once called Sim-Ka Rose.

Simka requires a pollinator like all Japanese plums. It is vigorous, but retains a medium size tree. Expect it to drop some fruit throughout the season as it is partially self-thinning, but is still productive.
