A Little History about Ginger Gold® Apple, USPP# 7063Ginger Gold® is also known as the Mountain Cove cultivar. It was discovered as a chance seedling in a Winesap orchard in Virginia in 1980. Many excellent varieties of fruit are discovered as chance seedlings, trees that grow from seeds from drop fruit or other seedlings that grow from fruit or seedling rootstocks. Save and plant your seeds, and you "might" have something new also, but the chances of a real "winner" are slim--- just like the lottery!
