Grandpa's Choice™ Red Gravenstein is a culinary treat! This antique variety is well known for cooking, sauce, cider and eating out of hand. It is large, with crisp white flesh and a distinct, juicy flavor. It will keep moderately well. The fruit is orangish with red striping on greenish yellow skin. It ripens late in the summer to early fall.

Some sources say that Graavenstein came from Italy, some say from Germany, in the early 1600's. Grandpa really doesn't know, but the name sure suggest german origins.
