Thundercloud plum is one of the most popular dark purple leaved plums. In the spring it is heavily covered in rich, light pink blooms. The foliage is a glossy, deep purple which retains its color well into the hot summer and fall. It is an upright, dense, spreading tree.

Thundercloud plum may set a few fruits about 1" in diameter, but it usually is barren. If you happen to see a few, let them ripen and you will find out that they are rather tasty, little tart things. A rare unexpected bonus some years, but not to be depended upon to satisfy anyone's hunger!
