NovaSpy Apple
Malus domestica 'NovaSpy'
Granpa's Nature Friendly™ NovaSpy is a good scab resistant alternative to Northern Spy, which it resembles. The fruit is medium size with some stripy, dark red blush. The flesh is creamy yellow, fine textured and very firm and crisp. It is moderately juicy, slightly acidic and has very good flavor. Excellent for fresh eating or pies, like Spy is. Ripens after Red Delicious and before regular Northern Spy. It stores and holds well

Homeowner Growing and Maintenance TipsNovaSpy should be easy to grow in the backyard, since it is resistant to scab and shouldn't require as much spraying. The tree is moderately vigorous and upright to spreading in growth habit. It bears earlier in life than Northern Spy, which is notorius for its slow bearing habit. It is a moderate, but annual producer and should be hardy for most areas.
