Sekai-ichi is a rather vigorous, upright tree that doesn't spread as much as most. It can be a biennial bearer, and a little on the unproductive side. It will req\uire pollination with other mid-season varieties as it is self-unfruitful.

A Little History

Grandpa always thought that Sekai-ichi should have been called the Japanese Red Delicious when he saw it. It looks and tastes like the old time red delicous, very sweet and aromatic. It is much larger than Red Delicious, producing huge apples rivaling Mutsu and Wolf River in size.
